About the DVD
Designed
just for men, this exciting video class brings home the centuries-proven
powers of yoga to make your back feel and perform much better.
This Men’s Back Health through
Yoga DVD was developed by Loredana- a Southern California Yoga
instructor and athlete who suffered devastating
back injuries in a tragic car crash. Undaunted,
and using yoga as her foundation for her remarkable recovery, Loredana developed
this routine based on her years of research and practice in
solving back problems using yoga. After teaching several yoga
classes to Marines, both injured and athletes- and realizing
there were definite needs -and obstacles- to men attending yoga
classes, she developed this DVD to bring the powers of yoga
to men.
A flowing workout presented in
a tone and setting appealing to the ‘average guy’, –be it family
man, athlete, hard-worker, or sedentary- this daily workout
will improve flexibility and relieve pain.
This specific yoga routine was
crafted to capitalize on the flow of movement from one pose
the next and employs ‘counter-poses’ (sequential opposing postures)
to create balance and symmetry.
Back problems can be a complex
dilemma, often stemming from tightness in the hips, buttocks
and legs. This yoga routine focuses on poses and positions which will
stretch your muscle and ligament tissues, create
spaces between your vertebrae, and opens your hips. Throughout, proper breathing
is employed so as to maintain your focus and calm.
This yoga routine targets:
- The flexor muscles in the lower back (multidifus and paraspinals).
- The junctions between the thoracic and lumbar spinal region
- The spaces between the vertebrae (intervertebral discs)
- The hamstrings (semimemebranosus and semitendinousus) and hips (ischial tuberosities)
- Opening the hips
The
DVD class emphasizes a safe, effective and enjoyable way to
train the back, by connecting movement with breathing, stretching
the large and small muscles and tissues of the back, lengthening
the spine, and creating spaces in the vertebrae.
Features of the DVD include:
- 37 minute workout, with warm up and cool-down.
- Counter-pose sequence developed specifically for men.
- 5- minute motivational and educational introduction
- On-screen pose review
- Hard copy brochure of the pose review
- Contemporary rock music soundtrack
- Instructor speaks ‘live’ and teaches throughout- not a voiceover.
- Two on screen testimonials from health professionals.
